Knowing Jesus more in my life
and making Him known to others.

MBCC is an intentionally multi-cultural, autonomous, self-governing fellowship of believers, part of the Church Universal, and is affiliated to Christian Churches New Zealand (CCNZ).

Statement of Faith

(Quotation from the Church Constitution)

  1. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who came into the world as the final and complete revelation of God the Father, the Creator and Sustainer of all things.

  2. Because God loves us, Christ died on the cross to make atonement for sin, rose from the dead and ascended bodily into Heaven, and will return to judge the living and the dead at the end of the age.

  3. All who believe in Jesus Christ and repent of their sin may enjoy everlasting life in the presence of God.

  4. The Holy Spirit effects regeneration in the believer and is the source of life and power in the Church.

  5. The Bible, as the inspired word of God, is the first and last source of authority for life, belief and practice.

  6. God graciously commands the Christian to witness to faith in Jesus Christ as Lord through believers baptism, which is an identification with Christ and the community of believers, the Church Universal.

Introduction to Membership

We warmly welcome anyone (of whatever nationality, and from whatever church and religious, or non-religious, background) to attend and participate in the life of the church. However, we believe that the administration of all matters regarding the life, work and ministry of the Mairangi Bay Community Church must be under the Holy Spirit’s direction through those baptized believers who have committed themselves as members to the Church.

Therefore, all elders, deacons and those who vote on any matters including constitutional changes must be members of the church).

  1. Anyone wanting to be a member of Mairangi Bay Community Church should be a person who has declared their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, and is baptised.

  2. Membership may be transferred from other Churches which have similar beliefs.

  3. The Bible teaches the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5 & 9), and God intends all believers to use their gifts and play their part in the local church (Ephesians 4:11-13 & 1 Corinthians 12:12). As believers walk in love and are led by the Holy Spirit each can contribute to effective functioning of the body of Christ.

  4. Members are invited  to take responsibility for the ongoing life of the Church.

  5. Members are also encouraged to support the work in prayer and finance.

  6. If, despite being able to do so, a member does not attend worship for a period of six months, their membership will be terminated.

Definition of Membership

(Quotation from the Church Constitution)

  1. Any person may be eligible for membership of the church if they declare that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is their personal Lord and Saviour.

  2. Believer’s baptism is a prerequisite for membership of the Church.

  3. All elders, deacons and those who vote on constitutional changes must be members of the church.

  4. Irrespective of membership, all who love the Lord are encouraged to participate in the life and witness of the church, to interact with the leadership, and shall be welcome to take part in Communion (the Lord's Table).
